Canterbury is an historic English Cathedral City in the county of Kent, in south-east England. It lies on the River Stour. At its heart is Canterbury Cathedral, originally begun in 597 and later rebuilt in 1070-1077 after being destroyed by fire. The Archbishop of Canterbury now heads the Church of England and the Anglican community throughout the world. Thomas a'Beckett was murdered in the cathedral in 1170.
