Haute-Marne is a department in the northeast of France, named after the River Marne. It is one of the original 83 departments created during the French Revolution, and was formed from parts of the former provinces of Champagne, Burgundy, Lorraine and Franche-Comté. The prefecture is in Chaumont - other places of note include Langres, Saint-Dizier and Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, home of Charles de Gaulle.
